Cathy’s Critters is proud to re-introduce H.A.I.E.A. (Human Animal Interaction & Education Advocates), a non-profit that was established in 2015 by Kevin and Cathy Smith, owners of Cathy’s Critters.

Together Cathy’s Critters and H.A.I.E.A. will be working in partnership to further the education of human/animal interaction.

H.A.I.E.A.’s purpose is to educate and improve the lives of both animals and humans by using positive and healthy interactions.

HAIEA was founded by Keven and Cathy Smith. They have owned and operated their

own farm for 20 years. A large variety of animals live with them on their land. In addition

to the more commonly expected farm animals, they have emus, kangaroos, reptiles,

coatis and many other exotics species. They founded Cathy’s Critters, a mobile animal

education/ entertainment company in 2005 to supply educational presentations and

petting zoos to private and public events. Kevin and Cathy have opened their farm up to

visitors, private parties, nonprofits and have also started an educational summer camp.

It became clear to Kevin and Cathy that animals have a special place in the

development of both mental and physical health of children and adults. HAIEA became

a reality as a way to realize the dream of bringing animals and people together in a

therapeutic way, as well as working to increase the body of scientific evidence for the

field of HAI (Human Animal Interaction).
